Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using OneOffX. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by them.

1. About OneOffX

OneOffX is a personal, non-commercial web application that allows registered bridge players to follow tournament results, replay hands, and post commentary. It is operated by Mark Stanners as an individual developer, not as a company.

OneOffX is provided free of charge. There is no guarantee of uptime, continuity, or availability.

2. Eligibility

To use OneOffX you must:

• Be a current member of the English Bridge Union (EBU) with a valid EBU number and password.
• Be 13 years of age or older.
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

By signing in you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Your account

Your OneOffX account is created automatically when you first sign in with your EBU credentials. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your EBU credentials secure. OneOffX never stores your password.
• All activity that occurs through your account.
• Notifying me at legal@oneoffx.uk if you suspect unauthorised access.

I reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use OneOffX to:

• Post content that is defamatory, abusive, threatening, obscene, or discriminatory.
• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or another user's account.
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from OneOffX without prior written consent.
• Use the service in any way that violates applicable law, including UK data protection law.
• Post spam, advertising, or unsolicited commercial communications.

I may remove content that violates these rules and suspend or ban the accounts responsible.

5. Commentary and user content

OneOffX allows registered users to post comments on bridge hands ("User Content"). By posting User Content you:

• Confirm that you have the right to post it and that it does not infringe any third party's rights.
• Grant me a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and moderate it within the service.
• Acknowledge that your content may be reviewed by moderators before or after publication.

Expert commentators are designated by a moderator or administrator. Designation as an expert can be revoked at any time at my discretion.

I do not endorse any User Content and accept no responsibility for its accuracy or completeness.

6. Bridge data and intellectual property

Tournament results, hand records, and related bridge data displayed on OneOffX are sourced from publicly available feeds or imported by administrators. Where data originates from the EBU, WBF, or BBO, it remains subject to those organisations' own terms and intellectual property rights.

The OneOffX application code, design, and original content are the intellectual property of Mark Stanners. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written consent.

7. EBU relationship

OneOffX is an independent personal project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated in partnership with the English Bridge Union. Use of EBU data is subject to any applicable EBU terms and to the outcome of ongoing discussions regarding API access.

If the EBU withdraws permission to use its data or API, I may be required to remove features or data from OneOffX without notice.

8. Availability and changes

OneOffX is provided "as is" and "as available". I make no warranty that:

• The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time.
• Any data or content will be accurate, complete, or up to date.

I may modify, suspend, or discontinue OneOffX at any time without notice. I will try to give reasonable advance notice of significant changes where possible, but am not obliged to do so.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by English law, I accept no liability for:

• Loss of data, profits, or revenue arising from your use of OneOffX.
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss.
• The accuracy or completeness of bridge data, results, or commentary displayed on the service.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Moderation and enforcement

I and designated moderators may review, edit, or remove User Content and may suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion. Moderation decisions are final, though you may appeal by emailing legal@oneoffx.uk.

11. Privacy

My collection and use of personal data is governed by the OneOffX Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Please read it carefully.

12. Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. When I do, I will update the effective date above. If changes are material, I will notify registered users by email where reasonably practicable. Continued use of OneOffX after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
